This custom residence in Paradise Valley, Arizona was designed and built for a contemporary couple. A series of bar shaped elements are combined to address the needs of the couple’s lifestyle, including entertaining friends, displaying an extensive art collection, and accommodating visiting family and guests. A narrow, south-facing skylight illuminates a massive masonry wall as it bisects the house longitudinally before ending in a vertical glass slit at the entryway. Long, thin shade canopies provide refuge for the patio and large windows. The contemporary design uses steel, concrete masonry, zinc paneling and insulated glass to frame the breathtaking views of the mountains surrounding this 930 sm (10,000 sf) home.
